Without volunteers, Meals on Wheels would not exist. Volunteers can help once a week, once a month, or once in a while.
Our meals are delivered exclusively by volunteers. Monday through Friday, loyal volunteers arrive by 10:45am, collect and deliver the meals on an identified delivery route. It usually takes about an hour to deliver.
Drivers
Volunteer Drivers can work by themselves or in a team of two. Volunteers must have a valid license and insurance, use their own cars to deliver meals, and must clear a state police background check. Volunteers deliver more than a meal, but also a smile and a conversation.
Packers
Volunteer Packers work in the kitchen 9am-10:30am. Volunteers make sandwiches, pour juice, put food into the individual containers, serve up hot meals, and bag all the items for each individual client.
Substitute Cook
On an as needed basis. Being able to cook for a crowd and follow nutritionally balanced menus. Need knowledge of safe food handling and kitchen sanitation practices. This is a paid position.
